Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Violet Gordon and Brookesly Wilson Lead Reno to Victory

Reno won the last time they faced Galena and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Reno Huskies put the hurt on the Galena Grizzlies with a sharp 58-36 victory. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Reno to victory were Brookesly Wilson and Violet Gordon. Wilson went 7 for 16 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and four steals, while Gordon went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points and five steals. Natalia Schettler was another key player, putting up ten points.

Despite the defeat, Galena saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Julia Imse posted 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ramona Peterson, who earned eight points and three steals.

Reno's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Galena, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Reno has already played their next game, a 59-41 victory against Spanish Springs on the 17th. As for Galena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-34 loss against Bishop Manogue on the 17th.
