Section 8 Conference II recap October 22, 2013
Mepham was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in Section 8 Conference II. Earlier in the week, the Pirates triumphed over Kennedy 55-21.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Carey beat Herricks 41-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Seahawks.
Wantagh's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. stephen killard has thrown for 518 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while mike ferraro has 11 catches for 119 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mepham takes on Carey. Anthony Cracco's team is currently in sixth, while the Seahawks are in first.
Garden City scaled the state rankings by moving to 189 from 219 this week, the biggest jump in Section 8 Conference II. The Trojans were able to move up by defeating Wantagh 21-13.
