Portville suffered their closest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They fell just short of Frewsburg by a score of 55-52. It was the first time this season that Portville let down their fans at home.
Meanwhile, Gowanda's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Randolph 75-28. Gowanda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-13.
Portville's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2. As for Gowanda, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
Everything went Portville's way against Gowanda in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Portville made off with a 51-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Portville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
