In what's become a running theme this season, the Pender Pendragons gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 59-31 win over Homer. Given Pender's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Homer is ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pender got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Wegner out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyn Dolliver, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Homer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexandra Albrecht. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Rylie Harris was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Pender pushed their record up to 21-1 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Homer, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Pender didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-50 win vs. Howells-Dodge on the 9th. Homer has also already played their next matchup, a 48-35 win against Ponca on the 9th.
