The Laurel Spartan will head out on the road to take on the West Middlesex Big Reds at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Laurel is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Laurel suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Aliquippa 77-23. While losing is never fun, Laurel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 686th, while Aliquippa is ranked 82nd).
Meanwhile, West Middlesex's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 65-42 defeat at the hands of Rocky Grove. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat West Middlesex has suffered against Rocky Grove since January 28, 2020.
Laurel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for West Middlesex, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
Laurel beat West Middlesex 51-43 in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Does Laurel have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Middlesex turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
