It was another big night for Aaliyah Baldwin, who went 12 for 21 on her way to 29 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Samantha Kartchner was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Draper APA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy came into Thursday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 25-23 win over Rowland Hall on Thursday.
Draper APA better keep an eye on Saydee Carter. She was instrumental in American Leadership Academy's win, putting up four points along with eight boards and four steals. Carter has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Hernandez, who posted two points in addition to nine boards and four steals.
Draper APA's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 46.2 points. As for American Leadership Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Draper APA hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.4 points per game. It's a different story for American Leadership Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 33.4 points. The only thing between Draper APA and another offensive beatdown is American Leadership Academy. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Draper APA against American Leadership Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-17 victory. In that game, Draper APA amassed a halftime lead of 40-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
