Jonas McCuen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Kael Buschman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Argos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 28th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against North Judson-San Pierre, falling 18-8.
Conner Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Brady Montgomery also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Culver Community's record now sits at 1-7. As for Argos, their record is now 0-11.
Culver Community's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Cavaliers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Argos, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Culver Community continue to outrun the ball?
Culver Community came out on top in a nail-biter against Argos in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
