The Saint Francis Catholic Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Francis Catholic will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Saint Francis Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Eastside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wolves blew past the Rams 15-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Isaac Sherrouse looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Sawyer Williams was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dylan Diaz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Saint Francis Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Seven Rivers Christian's offense. They fell just short of Lakeside Christian by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mason Hogue spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Seven Rivers Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Lemar, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
Saint Francis Catholic pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seven Rivers Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Saint Francis Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seven Rivers Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Saint Francis Catholic took their win against Seven Rivers Christian in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
