Softball Game Preview: Eastside Spartans vs. Castlewood Blue Devils

Eastside is a perfect 8-0 against Castlewood since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Eastside will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Eastside proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out J.I. Burton 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Black Raiders since April 14, 2022.

Emma Sartin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Sartin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dakota Clay, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Clay has snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Castlewood fell victim to Rye Cove and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eastside's record is now 16-2. As for Castlewood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything went Eastside's way against Castlewood when the teams last played back in April, as Eastside made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
