The Riverside Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Milton-Union Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three games.
Even though Covington scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Riverside still came out on top. Riverside narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Covington 63-60. 63 seems to be a good number for Riverside as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Milton-Union came up short against Bradford on Saturday and fell 56-45. Milton-Union has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Milton-Union saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braden Schaurer, who scored 14 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Schaurer hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Zach Lovin, who scored 12 points.
Milton-Union struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-5) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Milton-Union, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Riverside strolled past Milton-Union in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 55-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
