The Wharton Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Leto 67-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (57), Wharton still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Wharton still got an impressive performance from Nick Womack, who scored 28 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Womack has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayson Montgomery, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Leto's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Delgardo, jr, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Delgardo, jr has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Delgardo, III, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Wharton's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Leto, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Wharton and King will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. King has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 251 points over their last four matchups. As for Leto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blake at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Blake is ranked 47th, while Leto is ranked 63rd).
