Ridgeland's Gary Adams recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Region 2 this season in his game against Lanier last week. Adams ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 138 on the day as his team defeated the Bulldogs.
Ridgeland took down Lanier 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Adams in the win.
Callaway's dynamic duo of Chris Mitchell and Dayall Harris proved tough for Neshoba Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mitchell threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns and Harris had 131 yards receiving. Kendrick Catchings helped Callaway's passing attack out by catching two balls for 57 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Ellis Dejuan of Provine is the league leader in passing yards this season with 647. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Canton's Tim Lewis has rushed for 725 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Harris. The Callaway star has 20 catches for 379 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Starkville takes on Kenny Burton's team. The Yellowjackets are currently in fourth, while the Titans are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Starkville and Ridgeland face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Yellowjackets comes in having scored 137 this season, while the Titans have scored 157. Starkville scored 23 points last week as it beat the Rams.
The Chargers and the Rockets played the most hotly contested game in 5A Region 2 this week, with the Chargers eventually emerging with a 26-25 victory. Mitchell ran for 11 yards in the win.
