The Sammamish RedHawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Highline 91-64 on the road. Given Sammamish's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Highline is ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rakin Showki continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 39 points along with five steals. The game was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keith Kariuki, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Highline's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Corey Crosby, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Marquawn Mccraney who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Mccraney scored a full 29.7% of Highline's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Marcus Moss was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Sammamish's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Highline, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sammamish is on the road again on Thursday and play against Franklin Pierce at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Franklin Pierce is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game. As for Highline, they will head out on the road to face off against Tyee at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
