Horizon hasn't had much luck against Del Valle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Scorpions will head out on the road to take on the Conquistadores at 7:00 p.m.
While Horizon is heading in to the game without a win, things might be looking up considering their last matchup was the closest they've come to getting one. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 31-28 heartbreaker at the hands of Burges. The contest was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Scorpions couldn't quite close it out.

Despite their defeat, Horizon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jose Castillo, who picked up 126 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 38 yards and one TD, was perhaps the best of all. The Scorpions also got a significant boost from Isaiah Aguilera, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Meanwhile, Del Valle took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over Hanks. Given the Conquistadores' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Knights are ranked 772nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Horizon better keep an eye on Jake Fette. He was instrumental in Del Valle's win, rushing for 114 yards and three scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 288 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Fette a new career-high. Ivan Lopez was another key pass catcher, picking up 50 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Del Valle's run defense was locked in: Hanks could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Mateo Santibanez for the heroic effort on defense: he. Del Valle didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.
Del Valle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Abraham Garcia, Nayden Avila, Isiah Herrera, and Angel Montelongo picked up one apiece. Avila got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Del Valle's record is now 6-1. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Horizon took a serious blow against Del Valle when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 42-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fette, who threw for 348 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 55 yards and one score. Now that the Scorpions know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
