George West and Goliad are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The George West Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Goliad Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. George West has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5.
George West lost a heartbreaker to Odem when they met back in January, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. George West was the victim of a rough 52-30 loss at the hands of Odem. George West has struggled against Odem recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
George West's loss came about despite a quality game from Tristen Blevins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Blevins also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Goliad beat Taft 52-39 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Goliad.
George West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season. As for Goliad, their win bumped their record up to 26-5.
George West was dealt a bruising 76-34 loss at the hands of Goliad in their previous matchup back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point George West was down 50-22.
