The Orting Cardinals will head out to square off against the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orting has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Orting blew Eatonville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Eatonville got their revenge. The Cardinals fell just short of the Cruisers by a score of 15-13. Cardinals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cruisers since Friday.
Orting got a massive performance out of Norah Fenton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Fenton continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryann Polly, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Graham-Kapowsin waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They skirted past the Rams 5-3.
Brooklyn Pettit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Pettit wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nalani San Nicolas, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits San Nicolas has posted since back in April.
Orting has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their record is now 21-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Orting hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Graham-Kapowsin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
