On Saturday, the Pinson Valley Indians faced the JAG Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pinson Valley walked away with a 70-59 win over JAG. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pinson Valley found their leader in underclassman Clyde Walters, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Austin Coner was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
JAG's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of JaMicah Adair, who scored 21 points, and Ladarius Givan who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Adair is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedrickus Williams, who scored eight points.
JAG struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pinson Valley racked up 15 assists.
Pinson Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for JAG, their loss dropped their record down to 19-2.
Pinson Valley on the road again on Monday and play against Fairfield at 4:00 p.m. on January 15th. One thing working in Fairfield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests. As for JAG, they will be playing at home against Pike Road at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike Road is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
