In what's become a running theme this season, University Prep gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Lassen with a sharp 73-48 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win University Prep has posted against Lassen since February 8, 2019.
University Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Devin Huegel, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Baron Grooms, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Grooms continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Scott Steffan, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eureka came up short against McKinleyville on Tuesday and fell 49-41. Eureka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Makai Dennon put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored seven points along with two steals. Jahmil Rippy was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
University Prep is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Eureka, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: University Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Eureka struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 28.6 rebounds per game.
