Softball Recap: Decatur Finds Home Field Redemption Against Washington

There's no place like home for Decatur, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let the Washington Jaguars get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Wednesday. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Lily Rados and Kirby Bounds made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Rados pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bounds pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rados went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI, while Bounds got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Bounds has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Riley Hertzog was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Lea Herling was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Washington, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
