Softball Recap: Ferris Has No Trouble Against Gonzaga Prep

It's playoff time, and Ferris had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups on Friday as they made off with a 24-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Saxons, who have now won eight matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Bella Hao made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ferris got a massive performance out of Cadence Hyndman, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Donyelle Strauss, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

Ferris was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gonzaga Prep only posted a batting average of .263.

Ferris is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Gonzaga Prep, their defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-22.

Looking ahead, Ferris will venture away from home to take on Hanford on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Saxons surely won't give up without a fight. Gonzaga Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
