There's no place like home for Hillcrest, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Canyon Springs Cougars on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Hillcrest got a great performance from Ashley James as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. James has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nicole Riddell, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Sierra Siracusa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Hillcrest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 8-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Hillcrest pushed their record up to 16-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Canyon Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
