The Andover Central Jaguars and the Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Andover Central Jaguars had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Saints 35-7. Andover Central's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Jace Jefferson threw for 73 yards on six of 19 attempts. Jace Adler was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards. On the ground, Maddox Archibald rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Saint Thomas Aquinas can attribute much of their success to Gianni Rizzi, who rushed for 199 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Rizzi has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elzie Slaughter, who rushed for 90 yards on only seven carries.
Andover Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Andover Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saint Thomas Aquinas also has no future games currently scheduled.
