The Poston Butte Broncos lost against the Saguaro Sabercats back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Poston Butte took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saguaro. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poston Butte in their matchups with Saguaro: they've now lost six in a row.
Poston Butte's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyanee Perry, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Harris, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and seven assists.
Saguaro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexa Simpson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Simpson has scored at least 25% of Saguaro's points. Another player making a difference was Marley Jackson , who scored 17 points.
Poston Butte's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Saguaro, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Poston Butte will take on Yuma in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at. Saguaro won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Arizona College Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Saguaro is ranked 26th).
