Basketball Recap: Forge Christian Skates Past Stargate School with Ease

Forge Christian entered their tilt with Stargate School on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Stargate School Eagles 67-27. The Fury have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 24 points or more this season.

Forge Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Hovis, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. Hovis is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played. Levi Clark was another key player, going 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Forge Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stargate School only racked up three assists.

Stargate School's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jeremy Hartemink, who posted ten points, and Aldo Enriquez, who scored seven points. The dominant performance gave Hartemink a new career-high in points. Neil Gupte also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Forge Christian pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points over those games. As for Stargate School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Forge Christian will challenge Strasburg at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Strasburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Forge Christian likes a good challenge. As for Stargate School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-61 defeat against The Academy on the 13th.
