Baseball Recap: Lutheran West Has No Trouble Against Open Door Christian

After only one run in their last game, Lutheran West made sure to put some runs up on the board against Open Door Christian on Thursday. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Patriots. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Brandon Schneider was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Lundenberger, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lutheran West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lutheran West's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Open Door Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran West will face off against Trinity at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.89 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Open Door Christian, they will take on Elyria at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
