The St. Catherine's Saints will challenge the Trinity Episcopal Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Catherine's is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
St. Catherine's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Christchurch School with a sharp 13-0 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Keira Frazier and Jenna Keefer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Frazier tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Keefer struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Frazier scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Keefer went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Keefer a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Day Vetter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Addie Hinson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
St. Catherine's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Trinity Episcopal's offense. They came up short against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Friday, falling 8-0. The Titans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
St. Catherine's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Trinity Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both St. Catherine's and Trinity Episcopal just can't seem to miss. The Saints have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Trinity Episcopal struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Catherine's was able to grind out a solid win over Trinity Episcopal in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
