Mullen is on a three-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Overland is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mullen Mustangs will take on the Overland Trailblazers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mullen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Saturday, Mullen was able to grind out a solid win over Rocky Mountain, taking the game 67-54.
Mullen's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Makenzie Jones, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds, and Allison Schwertner, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ryker Thomas, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Overland stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thornton 84-25 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-13.
Mullen has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Overland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Mullen strolled past Overland in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 56-38. Will Mullen repeat their success, or does Overland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
