Laredo LBJ is 0-10 against the Longhorns since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Laredo LBJ Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the United Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. Laredo LBJ comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, Laredo LBJ had to suffer through a rough 84-38 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Laredo LBJ can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1266th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 409th).
In what's become a running theme this season, United gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 87-39 win over Del Rio. The victory made it back-to-back wins for United.
It was another big night for Jesslynn Jalomo, who scored 29 points along with six assists and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aide Figueroa, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Laredo LBJ dropped their record down to 0-24 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for United, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.
Laredo LBJ was taken down by the Longhorns 70-29 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jalomo, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 1 assist. Now that Laredo LBJ knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
