Baseball Recap: Independence Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Independence lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Charleston Catholic, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Patriots blew past the Irish 12-5 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the game before.

Justin Williams was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Micah Cuthbert was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Independence pushed their record up to 10-10-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Charleston Catholic, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Charleston Catholic, they will be playing at home against Poca at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.58 runs per game on average), something the Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of.
