Softball Recap: Garfield Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lincoln

There's no place like home for Garfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Lincoln Lynx 11-0 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Sammy Breckenridge looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Washington, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Mae Valenta was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Garfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Garfield's record is now 7-2. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Garfield will square off against rival Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lincoln is set to take on their familiar foe Holy Names Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
