Whittier Christian hasn't had much luck against Valley Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Whittier Christian Heralds will head out on the road to square off against the Valley Christian Defenders at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Whittier Christian sitting on three straight victories and Valley Christian on five.
Last Thursday, Whittier Christian earned a 3-1 win over Calvary Baptist.
The final score came out to 25-17, 7-25, 25-18, 25-19.
Whittier Christian relied on the efforts of Anwar Klewer, who had 13 digs and three aces, and Andrew Wozab, who had 13 digs. That's the most digs Wozab has posted over his last seven contests. Samuel Ly also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.
They weren't the only good server: Whittier Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian beat Whitney 3-1 on Tuesday.
While Valley Christian might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Whitney scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Valley Christian, their record is now 5-1.
Whittier Christian suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Valley Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Whittier Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
