The Foothill Falcons entered their tilt with the Dougherty Valley Wildcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Foothill came out on top against Dougherty Valley by a score of 60-52 on Saturday. Given Foothill's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Nevada, while Dougherty Valley is ranked 140th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zak Abdalla was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Foothill's points. Shawn Salazar was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Dougherty Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Foothill and Bishop Gorman will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop Gorman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 288 points over their last four contests. Dougherty Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Ramon Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th.
