The Lawrence County Red Devils were the 53-45 winner over the Brewer Patriots when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lawrence County fell just short of Brewer by a score of 47-44. Lawrence County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Lawrence County saw an underclassman step up: Alivia Terry scored 24 points along with five steals. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ava Boyll was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Brewer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bailey Hale, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. Hale is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Grace Yancey, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Lawrence County bumped their record down to 3-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Brewer, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will take on West Point at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Point is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games. As for Brewer, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Russellville at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th.
