The Del Mar Dons entered their tilt with the Gunderson Grizzlies with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Del Mar strolled past Gunderson with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 39-25. For Del Mar, this counts as revenge for the 31-20 defeat Gunderson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2021.
Andre Latimore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 267 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Latimore was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. Bradley Tavish and his 157 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Del Mar's victory.
Gunderson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Fernandez, who threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt. Terreon Hunt was another key contributor, picking up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Del Mar's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.33 points. As for Gunderson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Mar will square off against Prospect at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Prospect's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Gunderson, they will head out on the road to face off against Yerba Buena at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Yerba Buena has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 26.
