The Sherwood Warriors will challenge the Atholton Raiders on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Atholton will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Sherwood extended their winning streak to 19 on Thursday. Everything went the Warriors' way against Northwest as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kylie Valios looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylie Friend, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Anderson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Sherwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Atholton rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Bengals 10-4.
Elli Cathirell made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Cathirell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kamryn Marable was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Dawnell Hagans was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Sherwood pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Atholton, their win bumped their record up to 5-10-1.
Everything went Sherwood's way against Atholton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Sherwood made off with a 10-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
