The University Christian Barracudas's 25-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over Salem Baptist Christian. University Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Salem Baptist Christian still got an impressive performance from Garrett Trinkle, who shot 4-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Trinkle has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Lloyd, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
University Christian's victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7. As for Salem Baptist Christian, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-15.
University Christian will take on Hickory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salem Baptist Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Statesville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesville Christian is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
