When it comes to explaining why Whiting lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shawn Donaldson. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. Donaldson scored a full 46.8% of Whiting's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Yovanni Garro, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Whiting were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illiana Christian only racked up 23 assists.
Illiana Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Polak, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Polak pulled down eight or more rebounds. Isaac Sherwood was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds.
Whiting's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Illiana Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Whiting will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Station Edison is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Illiana Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrean at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
