Wabasha-Kellogg is 1-9 against St. Charles since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons will be staying on the road to face off against the St. Charles Fighting Saints at 7:15 p.m. on February 8th. St. Charles took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wabasha-Kellogg, who comes in off a win.
Wabasha-Kellogg was handed a 29-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against LeRoy-Ostrander on Tuesday. Wabasha-Kellogg narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past LeRoy-Ostrander 47-44. The victory was just what Wabasha-Kellogg needed coming off of a 62-33 defeat in their prior match.
Brielle Adams went supernova for Wabasha-Kellogg, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Paddock, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Wabasha-Kellogg was without their leading scorer, Ileana DeAngel, in Tuesday's matchup. With DeAngel sitting this one out, Addisyn Quade got some extra time on the court (30 vs. her season average of 15). Quade made the most of the opportunity, scoring 12 points along with two steals. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, St. Charles' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lake City, falling 63-17.
Wabasha-Kellogg's win ended a 24-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-19. As for St. Charles, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Wabasha-Kellogg beat St. Charles 58-49 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wabasha-Kellogg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
