The Adams City Eagles will challenge the Gateway Olympians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Adams City got the win against Aurora Central by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mauro Acosta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Nathan Gonzalez was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Christian Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Gateway hadn't done well against Skyview recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Olympians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Wolverines.
Gateway saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jakob Petersen, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Another was Angel Ferrusquia, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
The victory made it two in a row for Adams City and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Gateway, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Adams City might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Gateway in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
