The Benjamin Buccaneers will head out on the road to take on the Centennial Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Benjamin has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 25.
Benjamin struggled with assists on Wednesday (North Broward Prep had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Benjamin took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Broward Prep. While losing is never fun, Benjamin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while North Broward Prep is ranked 146th).
Despite their loss, Benjamin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. D'sani Escobedo, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Escobedo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?nyia Donaldson, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Centennial put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Treasure Coast at home to the tune of 58-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Centennial has posted since November 28, 2023.
Benjamin bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Benjamin couldn't quite finish off Centennial when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 47-44. Can Benjamin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
