Ripon Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Tameling, who rushed for 38 yards and one score, and also threw for 100 yards while completing 77.8% of his passes. Tameling's passing game has become a key predictor of the Knights' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Lushen Sanders was in the mix too, providing Ripon Christian with two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ripon Christian's defense and their four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Braden Schaapman, Blake Stuit, and Jackson Howell, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Liberty Ranch put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Ripon 30-28. Joe Lara also helped out as he racked up 113 rushing yards.
Liberty Ranch was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 367 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 314 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Ripon Christian now has a winning record of 9-2. As for Liberty Ranch, their record now sits at 11-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Ripon Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.8 rushing yards per game.
