The Concord Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Miramonte Matadors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Concord will be strutting in after a victory while Miramonte will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Concord turned things around against Campolindo on Tuesday. They blew past the Cougars 16-1. The Bears not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th (when they won 22-6).

Aislynn Newlin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shay Caban, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Oriana Castro also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Concord always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campolindo only posted an OBP of .286.
Miramonte couldn't beat Berean Christian on Tuesday even though they stacked ten runs on them in the fourth inning. The Matadors fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 12-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Matadors in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Maddie McKim made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Julia Quinn-Ferguson, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Miramonte's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-6. As for Concord, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Concord has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Miramonte struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Concord's way against Miramonte in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Concord made off with a 24-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
