Fishburne Military extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grace Christian Warriors. If the Caissons were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Warriors when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Michael Mazzetti and Jett Rios stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mazzetti went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Rios went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That home run marked the first that Mazzetti has launched this season.
As for Grace Christian, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.
On Grace Christian's side, Elijah McCaskill was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. With that strong performance, McCaskill is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Ethan Wright was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. David Anderson was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Fishburne Military wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Appalachian Christian School on the 13th. As for Grace Christian, they will take on Ridgeview Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
