The Overbrook Panthers waltzed into their matchup Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 59-50 win over Abraham Lincoln. That's another feather in the cap for Overbrook, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Overbrook's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Omar Davis, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 steals. Davis is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Nasir Kelly was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Abraham Lincoln's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Smith, who scored 14 points. The game was Smith's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Montgomery, who scored 13 points.
Overbrook's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Abraham Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Overbrook will head out on the road to face off against Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Middletown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Overbrook in their respective states (Middletown is ranked 11th in Delaware, while Overbrook is ranked 183rd in Pennsylvania). As for Abraham Lincoln, they will be playing at home against Imhotep Charter at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
