The Myers Park Mustangs put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Olympic at home to the tune of 56-24. Myers Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Myers Park to victory were Jerin Truesdale and Chayla McDaniel. Truesdale scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while McDaniel scored 11 points along with seven steals. Truesdale is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laura Lassiter, who scored eight points.
Olympic's loss came despite strong showings from Chai James and Barri Terry. James scored ten points along with eight rebounds, while Terry scored two points. James is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Olympic struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Myers Park racked up 18 assists.
Myers Park pushed their record up to 15-0 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Olympic, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Myers Park will head out on the road to challenge South Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Mecklenburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Myers Park is ranked sixth). As for Olympic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Berry at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Berry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Wednesday.
