The Harlandale Indians will look to defend their home court on Friday against the South San Antonio Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Harlandale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Southside typically has all the answers at home, but Harlandale proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 38-30. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Harlandale has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harlandale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marissa Ortiz, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cascia Sandoval, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, South San Antonio's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 20th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Medina Valley, falling 63-36. While losing is never fun, South San Antonio can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1274th, while Medina Valley is ranked 619th).
Harlandale is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. As for South San Antonio, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-25.
Everything went Harlandale's way against South San Antonio in their previous matchup on January 2nd as Harlandale made off with a 55-30 win. Will Harlandale repeat their success, or does South San Antonio have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
