The Murphy Panthers posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Blount 39-36. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Murphy has scored all season.
Murphy found their leader in underclassman Kinley Simmons, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Cordairus Dixon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Murphy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Blount, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-12.
Murphy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against McGill-Toolen at 7:00 p.m. McGill-Toolen is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for Blount, they will head out on the road to take on Saraland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saraland has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
