The Oakwood Comets will take on the Armstrong Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Oakwood's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Chrisman 16-0. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.

Caydence Vermillion was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Irene Rangel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gracie Hanner, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Oakwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chrisman only posted an OBP of .214.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Armstrong). They put the hurt on Seeger with a sharp 21-10 victory on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Armstrong pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Oakwood, their win bumped their record up to 12-8-1.
Oakwood beat Armstrong 4-1 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
