Gateway Christian put the hurt on Hampton Christian Academy with a sharp 3-0 victory on Friday with plenty of help from Cory, who had 12 aces, seven digs, and five kills. She has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Gateway Christian was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-11, 25-15.
Gateway Christian had a senior duo take command as Addysen Schaper had six aces and three digs and Kaleigh Nagata had 18 assists and three aces.
Gateway Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Seahawks as they made off with a 3-0 win.
The final score came out to 25-18, 25-12, 25-12.
Greenbrier Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Hannah Hess, who had eight aces and six digs.
Gateway Christian's record is now 8-6. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, their record now sits at 13-6-1.
Gateway Christian suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Greenbrier Christian Academy when the teams last played on September 5th. Can Gateway Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
