Section 8 Conference V recap Oct. 16, 2012
Long Island Lutheran extended the longest winning streak in Section 8 Conference V this week by beating Friends Academy, 35-8. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Roslyn took down St. Dominic 41-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Long Island Lutheran's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Borer threw for five yards and Tiquan Garner had five yards receiving. On the ground Garner chipped in 191 yards.
Long Island Lutheran's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Borer has thrown for 240 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Joseph Barrios has two catches for 90 yards. Garner leads the league in rushing with 1021 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jericho takes on Port Washington. As it stands, the Jayhawks are in fourth, while the Vikings are in third.
The Bulldogs led Section 8 Conference V in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on the Bayhawks.
